Reduce laboratory scheduling from 6 hours weekly task to 20 minutes

DMC Lean consultants worked with a large multi-national organisation in the pharmaceutical sector to re-align laboratory scheduling and testing. A system was developed that linked testing required based on demand for raw materials within the value chain.  An integrated system was developed that aligned test type, testing time, equipment required and laboratory personnel in a time bound model.  The improved RFT testing by 10%.

Laboratory and raw material managers also now have instant visibility on where raw materials or finished goods where within the value chain and when they can be released to production or the market.  Also, confusing white boards were replaced with smart metrics around material availability, plan completion and laboratory cycle time.
